The Apuan Mountain Range in Carrara, Italy is where Calacatta marble is mined. This color, which has taken the world by storm, has come to represent luxury and opulence. The colours mined here have a bright white background with a foreground of striking, dramatic veins that range in tone from brown/tan to grey and gold. On Sicily's east shore is the historic harbour city of Catania. Mt. Etna, an active volcano with trails going to the top, is located nearby. Taking inspiration from these volcano trials, the Calacatta Catania was born. Large trail pathways are left behind once the heated magma has cooled. There are huge dim grey areas on this surface that mimic the impact of volcano trails, as well as tiny, medium-length, thin grey tracks. It has been done on a White background to highlight these grey lines of the lava.
